Subtitles, spoken aloud

Subvocal reads subtitles in sync with your video. For those who cannot read, and for those learning a new language.

Accessibility through speech

Millions of people watch films and series every day, but not everyone can read the subtitles on screen. Subvocal bridges that gap — it picks up subtitles and reads them aloud in real time, synchronized with the video.

Subvocal also translates subtitles on the fly, making them available in your language — even for lesser-served languages like Danish. No need to find subtitles in your language; Subvocal handles it for you.

It also helps language learners hear pronunciation while reading along, turning any video into a listening exercise.

Three steps

1

Search in the app

Find subtitles for your movie or series. Subvocal matches the timing to your video.

2

Play your video

Start Netflix, Prime, or any streaming service. Subvocal works alongside your player.

3

Listen along

Subtitles are translated and read aloud in perfect sync. Pause, rewind, or adjust the speed to match your pace.

Powered by OpenSubtitles & built-in translation. Subvocal taps into one of the world's largest subtitle databases and translates subtitles from English to your language in real time — all inside the app. This means a huge catalog of subtitles is available, even for smaller languages like Danish.
